Railroad Ink Challenge Expansions - Engineer Pack

The Engineer Expansion Pack includes 4 unique expansions:
the Separation, the Special, the Renovation and the Construction Expansion.

Separation Expansion (1 die)

Usage: MANDATORY
Rounds: 7

The Separation die replaces one of the 4 basic Route dice with one featuring weird route configurations that never connect to each other. It will increase the difficulty of the game, while also offering new ways to play and opening up new possible strategies.

Special Expansion (1 die)

Usage: MANDATORY
Rounds: 7

The Special die lets you replace one of the 4 basic Route dice with one featuring all 6 Special Routes. You will have to draw 1 Special Route each round (as instructed by the die), which will give you a chance to create bigger networks, while also increasing the risk of having open ends at the end of the game!
This expansion does not replace the regular rule for building Special Routes, so you will be able to draw up to 10 Special Routes in a single game!

Renovation Expansion (1 die)

Usage: OPTIONAL
Rounds: 6

The Renovation die is used in addition to the 4 basic Route dice, and it allows you to add something to a Route that you previously built! The die shows you with dashed lines where the pre-existing routes can be, while the part you are allowed to add is marked with a continuous line. It may sound complicated, but the two following examples should make it all clear:

This face allows you to add an highway route to a pre-existing Station (either straight, curve, or t-junction).

With this face you can add an Overpass to a pre-existing route.

Note that not all of the dashed lines need to match, they just show you where the pre-existing routes can be. With the “add an overpass” face shown above, you can’t add an overpass to a curved route or to a t-junction, only to straights or dead-ends.

Construction Expansion (1 die)

Usage: OPTIONAL
Rounds: 7

The Construction die is used in addition to the basic route dice. Each face shows a special action that you can perform during your round: you will be able to either:

  • destroy (erase) a route that you built in a previous round
  • move (erase and redraw somewhere else) a route that you built in a previous round
  • ignore the regular building limits while drawing one of the routes from the current round
